GATE परीक्षा के नियम

अंग्रेजी माध्यम CBT में 1 या 2 अंक के MCQ, MSQ और NAT प्रश्न। गलत MCQ पर 1 अंक वाले प्रश्न में एक-तिहाई और 2 अंक वाले में दो-तिहाई अंक कटेंगे। MSQ/NAT में ऋणात्मक अंक नहीं; MSQ में आंशिक अंक नहीं।
दृष्टिहीनता, दोनों हाथ प्रभावित करने वाली चलन दिव्यांगता या सेरेब्रल पाल्सी वाले पात्र PwD उम्मीदवार वैध दिव्यांगता प्रमाणपत्र/UDID से एक अतिरिक्त घंटे का अनुरोध कर सकते हैं। अन्य निर्दिष्ट दिव्यांगताओं में Appendix B1 के अनुसार लिखने की कार्यात्मक सीमा का प्रमाणपत्र आवश्यक है।

आधिकारिक POWERGRID Careers विंडो चालू होने पर GATE 2027 आवेदन और पंजीकरण संख्या तथा आवश्यक विवरण से अलग पंजीकरण करें। लागू भुगतान करके आवेदन पूरा करें।
पत्राचार के लिए पंजीकृत ईमेल और उम्मीदवार लॉगिन सक्रिय रखें। GATE आवेदन में प्रयुक्त DigiLocker खाता सुरक्षित रखें; आयोजक ने इसे न मिटाने का निर्देश दिया है।

सेवा बांड

प्रशिक्षण पूरा करने और उसके बाद कम-से-कम तीन वर्ष सेवा के लिए बांड: General/OBC (NCL)/EWS हेतु ₹5,00,000 तथा SC/ST/PwBD हेतु ₹2,50,000। तैनाती भारत या विदेश में हो सकती है।

नवीनतम अपडेट

27-09-2026: GATE का regular registration 5 अक्टूबर तक बढ़ा। 6 अक्टूबर के update में late-fee registration 12 अक्टूबर तक खुला रखा गया। 14 अक्टूबर को late fee के साथ 15 अक्टूबर सुबह 10:30 से 16 अक्टूबर सुबह 10:29 तक पुनः खोलने की सूचना दी गई; 16 अक्टूबर की सूचना registration बंद होने की पुष्टि करती है। ये बदलाव GATE registration के हैं, अलग POWERGRID आवेदन window के नहीं; POWERGRID window अभी भी संभावित मार्च/अप्रैल 2027 है। पंजीकृत उम्मीदवार GATE notices देखते रहें और application विवरण सुरक्षित रखें।

Marks relaxation	For SC/ST/PwBD, qualifying degree marks are relaxed to pass marks only against posts reserved for the relevant category in the final detailed advertisement. Other disciplines are ineligible unless POWERGRID accepts the discipline under its reserved decision.
Grade conversion	Use university/institution-certified percentage conversion and its marks-calculation practice. If no conversion scheme exists, equivalent percentage = obtained CGPA ÷ maximum CGPA × 100.
Joining / medical fitness	Those planning further studies through GATE 2027 or needing extension of joining time should not apply. POWERGRID medical norms apply without relaxation.
PwBD — common identified categories	All four: Deaf/Hard of Hearing; One Arm, One Leg, Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victim, SD/SI without associated neurological/limb dysfunction or with associated limb dysfunction; Specific Learning Disability, Mental Illness; and multiple disabilities involving the categories applicable to that post. Benefits require at least 40% relevant permanent disability.
PwBD — additional post-specific categories	Electrical: Both Legs; One Arm and One Leg. Electronics: Autism Spectrum Disorder (Mild). Computer Science: Blind/Low Vision; Both Legs; One Arm and One Leg; Muscular Dystrophy; Autism Spectrum Disorder (Mild). Civil has the common categories above.

Minimum age: 18 years.

Post-wise Salary / Pay

Official requirement
During one-year training: IDA scale ₹40,000–3%–₹1,40,000, starting basic ₹40,000 plus IDA, HRA and perks equal to 12% of basic; approximate annual CTC ₹11 lakh. After training: Engineer E-2 scale ₹50,000–3%–₹1,60,000 and approximate annual CTC ₹22.5 lakh. Actual CTC varies by posting.
After regularisation, the package includes cafeteria perks/allowances, performance-related pay, accommodation or HRA, conveyance/digital-service reimbursements, uniform/laptop facilities, PF, gratuity, pension, leave encashment, group and personal-accident insurance, applicable advances and medical facilities for self/dependants.

POWERGRID trainees, apprentices and interns are not departmental candidates. Departmental applicants must follow the internal circular.

Selection Process

Qualify the corresponding GATE 2027 paper and complete the separate POWERGRID application. GATE qualification alone does not guarantee further selection.
POWERGRID’s current notice states that the remaining selection-process details will be issued in its notification before online registration starts.

GATE Examination Rules

English CBT with MCQ, MSQ and NAT questions carrying 1 or 2 marks. Wrong MCQ penalty: one-third mark for a 1-mark question; two-thirds for a 2-mark question. No negative marks for MSQ/NAT; no partial marks for MSQ.
Eligible PwD candidates with blindness, locomotor disability affecting both arms, or cerebral palsy may request one additional hour with a valid disability certificate/UDID. Other specified disabilities require a certificate confirming functional limitation to write under Appendix B1.

How to Apply

Use the official POWERGRID Careers window when activated; register separately using GATE 2027 application and registration numbers and the required details. Complete payment where applicable to finish the application.
Maintain the registered email and candidate login for correspondence. GATE applicants must retain the DigiLocker account used for their GATE application; the organiser instructs candidates not to delete it.

Service Bond

A service bond requires completion of training and at least three years of service thereafter: ₹5,00,000 for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS and ₹2,50,000 for SC/ST/PwBD. Posting may be in India or abroad.

Latest Update

27-09-2026: GATE extended regular registration to 5 October. The 6 October update kept late-fee registration open until 12 October. On 14 October, GATE announced a further reopening with late fee from 15 October at 10:30 a.m. to 16 October at 10:29 a.m.; the 16 October notice confirms that registration is closed. These changes concern GATE registration, not the separate POWERGRID application window, which remains tentative for March/April 2027. Registered candidates should follow GATE notices and retain their application details.
